Miss Rioux
I graduated from Brenau University in Gainesville, with a Bachelor of
Science in Middle Grades Education, specializing in Science and Social
Studies. I look forward to teaching Physical Science to
students at Crews Middle School.
I study abroad, I took science classes on the Yucatan Peninsula,
the summer before my senior year of college. (Check out my
pictures!)
I developed
my love of the outdoors as a Girl Scout, working at summer camps in
Georgia, Minnesota, and California . I get my kicks climbing rocks, sailing,
canoeing, and snow boarding. Adventure travel is my idea of a great
vacation. Ask me about dog sledding in Minnesota, canoeing in the
Boundary Waters, or snowmobiling around Yellowstone National Park!
My
goal is to make it to all four Girl Scout World Centers. I have also
backpacked along the Appalachian Trail and taken treks to Philmont
Scout Ranch in New Mexico. While in high school, I earned the Girl Scout Gold Award by
writing, producing and editing a water safety video for elementary
school age children.
I am a certified instructor for the COPE
course with the Northeast Georgia Boy Scout Council and hold life
guarding and water safety instructor certificates from the American Red
Cross.
My father is a fire
chief with the City of Atlanta and GBI; my mom is an accountant and my younger
brother, Gerard, an Eagle Scout, who also graduate from Collins Hill.
